The challenges have officially tanked. I wish we could get an all newbie challenge because I literally feel like I've already watched this challenge. This challenge BLOWS! The Missions suck, the jungles arent much better and I feel like it's painfully obvious who will win for the girls.
This challenge is a bit of a let down, it's the same thing each episode with maybe a crazy random fight thrown in the mix.
This challenge is a bit of a let down, it's the same thing each episode with maybe a crazy random fight thrown in the mix.
I agree with so many "big dogs" on this challenge I'd like to see more physical challenges like riot act from Cut Throat.
I'm actually happy to see less physical challenges that rely more on teamwork...especially because working with your rival is a theme of the season. It also gives weaker teams a chance to win as well, and not be resigned to their fate like in other Challenges.

The missions are perfect in my opinion.
I wasn't talking about the missions, I'm talking about the storyline. It's boring and played out. And from the look of the trailers, it's not gonna get any better but I will continue watching because I want the show renewed.
I have been a viewer of real world since Chicago and the challenge since BOTS 2. I stopped real world after Hollywood (loved that season, but started watching it again with Vegas, and I must say, I loved it). I feel that the Brooklyn, Cancun, CD and New Orleans seasons were horrible (watched the first episode of each, and quit) but then they were able to cast the right people for Las Vegas and it was perfect. I really hope the challenge can do the same. I thought that Rivals would definitely be a huge success, but I am hoping that maybe the next challenge, the Duel 3, gets REALLY good ratings so they will renew the contract. Who knows, only time will tell.
On the plus side, CT is coming off very likable this episode. It was so cute how he was trying to get Adam to say he's a friend. :)
I loved that!!!! I also hope he says it once this challenge haha but I doubt he will.
Whenever there is a challenge season where the competitors don't spin a wheel, pick a random card, or roll a dice, I feel like it's rigged. Once the show knows which guys or girls are going into the elimination round, they can just pick whatever game they want those people to play just to make sure they can keep the people they want to stick around.
I agree, it is shady and random is better but when it comes down to it if you want to win and are going against someone production favors you need to be able to beat them at anything. (I will say though the soccer thing with Wes and Brad was bad) In this Jungle the rules sucked but Brandon could have beaten Wes he just ran out of gas.
I really hope the challenge can do the same. I thought that Rivals would definitely be a huge success, but I am hoping that maybe the next challenge, the Duel 3, gets REALLY good ratings so they will renew the contract. Why everytime that Wes wins, there has to be an excuse to it? The Duel was on Brazil, a country in which soccer is the most important sport, so why not throw it on a challenge? In the Jungle I don't see anything wrong with the rules, but everything is valid to bash Wes.
Just my opinion, but if they wanted to include Brazil's past time into the Duel 1 in some way, they should've included soccer in some capacity into one of the daily challenges and not in the final... kind of like how they incorporated rugby into the first challenge on Duel 2 since they were in New Zealand.
Oh man, first Wes and Kenny take out Tyrie and Davis and now Brandon and Ty? If I didn't know any better, I think their racist to gays and blacks and to quote a certain Shawn Sealy from Battle of the Sexes 2, this Rivals challenge is "a racist *** game, all of you are racist, I hate you all, I'm going to blow up your houses. BLACK POWER!" Nah I'm just playing lol. BTW I love how this challenge is showing how "not so great" Kenny is at these games. He says his lost his mojo, but how can he lose it if he never had it? If it weren't for his "friends" and sometimes funny jokes he wouldn't skate so much on these challenges.

I agree with Townie, if they wanted to incorporate it they should have put it in a regular challenge not the final, in my opinion. I'm not a Wes basher, I used to be a big fan of his but his comments and actions have been making me dislike him. He won this Jungle, props to him. The point was more along the lines of production choosing specific elimination games to tailor to certain competitors.
I don't really understand the conspiracy theory behind production rigging elimination rounds/finals. First off, why would production care who won the duel? It's the last episode so it's not like by having wes win it would ruin the ratings for the next episode. Moreover, I wouldn't say wes had necessarily a "bad guy" persona in the duel, but Brad definitely had the "likeable guy" persona, so why wouldn't production want to rig it for him to win? Moreover, if production was REALLY concerned about who was eliminated in the duel, they wouldn't have DQ'd CT in the final duel. EVERYONE would have rather seen a CT v. Wes final. In the ruins, if production was so pro-Wes, why would they give cohutta a winnable elimination? Obviously if they gave them anything physical it wouldn't have been close. Instead we were stuck with that soggy napkin Cohutta the rest of the challenge. It would have been WAY more intruiging to see the JEK v. Wes drama play out (since it was really the first time that drama was unfolding). As far as the Jungle goes...if production was so set on Wes and Kenny staying I think they would have given the most recent climbing Jungle in the Wes/Kenny v. Tyrie/Davis Jungle. There is no way Tyrie could climb a rope, or perhaps Davis. Whereas the Jungle they had best suited Tyrie's strengths. Likewise if Wes and Kenny faced off with Brandon and Ty in the first jungle in which they participated, I think it would have been a slaughter (kenny and wes probably outweigh both brandon and ty). To sum up, I think it is a bit prejudicial to assume b/c a certain challenge/elimination happens to play into a certain competitors strength, they must be rigging it. It is going to be impossible that production comes up with a completely neutral game all the time.
Molds, Opps my comment seemed like I meant Duel 3 was for sure. I was just hypothesizing that since 4 seasons of Real World sucked, and then Las Vegas was amazing...maybe the previous challenge ratings havent been good, and that the next one (hypothetically) gets amazing ratings.

Maybe if he didn't they wouldn't have but there was no way they could have okayed it for him after it was such a big deal with Beth. Someone (I think I remember who but don't want to call him out because I'm not sure) mentioned after Beth ripped the flag, production then had a 30 minute meeting to retroactively instate the non-ripping rule to let the underdog Svet win.

After that minute, Beth went to get the flag and all of a sudden Svetlana came back and started shaking the pole. I may be wrong, but I think it was the assumption that she quit that was being debated, not the flag ripping.
Bad episode, I'm pretty much done with this season; it's horrible
Bad episode, I'm pretty much done with this season; it's horrible
You're quite lovely in the morning. Care to explain why?
Why does Wes tell Jasmine to "keep her mic on" during the sneak peak for the next episode? Is there a fine that the cast needs to pay if they take off their mic?

I've stated it often.
Can you clarify? So you're saying that for 30 min, the cast is just sitting waiting for the outcome of what production said?
Bad episode, I'm pretty much done with this season; it's horrible
Are you sure? You are free to do what you want of course, but think about the remaining Jungles (4) I think the guys could potentially be very fun to watch when you consider who is left. Any of JEK vs. C.T. or Leroy, both could be pretty exciting Jungles!! Personally I would love to see Leroy vs. C.T., even though they seem like friends. It's because I feel Leroy could match up well with C.T. and it would be a good battle. Just think about what is still to come! Some of the remaining Jungles could have epic match ups!
I feel that this season is about 75% everything else, and only 25% challenge. I remember back in like BOTS2, Inferno 2, Gauntlet 2, it was 75% challenges, then 25% other story line Also, this season i agree, the challenges IMO have been pretty boring. Like It's all "timed missions." I would rather see missions like in duel 1, with the pushing off a bridge, or the roller derby, or the rafty race.
You're quite lovely in the morning. Care to explain why?
I feel like it's all been done before. I'm so tired of JEK togehter, I'm sick of Wes, and the challenges just suck. I loved Cut Throat too because it had some new people, I'm so tired of these four being on all the seasons

I may keep watching, it just sucks that they chose this challenge to be the deciding factor of whether or not there will be a renewal

And if you think about it, back then it was a 30 minutes show. Now they have to fill the other 30 mins with other stuff that happens during the taping. I think that overall, Rivals is not a bad season, just JEK/Wes and also the fact that the big alliance controls everything. We need fresh faces and I am glad they brought CT back since we haven't seen him since the first 20 mins of the first episode of the Duel 2. Also, I am glad glad they chose 2 pairs of rookies: Leroy (competition wise he has potential), Michael (he is smart and he is entertaining), Jonna and Jasmine (fresh faces & drama, entertainment & they have potential of physical cause they are not an Evelyn but they dont suck either like Shauvon or Katelynn). Hopefully the challenge get renewed and they do a new challenge with people that haven't been on one since the Ruins & rookies so new drama, alliances, rivalries, can be formed.
Yea, that is true. (I hope haha) I just want at least one more, I'd like another Duel with all the top competitors so the competition is great from the start.
I just think JEK alliance suck the fun out of the challenges, that's why the ratings are sucky sucky, people want a challenge that is less predicable. Hopefully, the challenges get renewed and we get a challenge without JEK and just with rookies (incluiding the ones in this challenge) and people we havent seen since the Ruins and also CT :)
I think Brandon was dumb for voting for Mike and Lee when he should of voted for Even's team
Can you clarify? So you're saying that for 30 min, the cast is just sitting waiting for the outcome of what production said?
Give or take a few minutes... yes.
