The Challenge: Battle of the Seasons - Ratings

I think they did a great job advertising this episode. Hardly watched TV at all these past couple weeks yet I saw the commercial numerous times. You would think that week off would've hurt the ratings as people would forget, yet there was an increase. Not the best ratings ever, but if im not mistaken the best of the season.
People turned in for the drama of course; I don't think I personally saw one commercial that showed the actual competition
Its all about the Drama. Next season, they should keep the newbies and make all the challenges similar to the insane games. Basically what the Challenges used to be, pre Gauntlet II.
Where there any reruns last night? I missed the episode and kept on checking the tv if there were any more reruns but no luck just Teen Mom and Jersey Shore crap. What the hell.
Teen Mom, once again, is not crap. But I don't wanna grasp at straws though. Good episode though.

Does anyone know how many more episodes are left; around 4 right, reunion included? If the next couple of episodes are just as good, this could be amazing for the franchise with RW Portland coming up and another challenge right after that with vets. With next weeks preview, I imagine that the ratings will be just as good seeing how it's a "Robb episode" and he seems to be the fan favorite this season.
You can look at the Wikipedia page or your calendar and get a hint of how many are left. the series will be over in at least 3-4 like you are saying though to answer the question.

Here, read up on this, it's pretty interesting: Former Teen Mom Camera Man Spills All, Including Who's The Worst Mom
it’s not scripted in the way a narrative would be but the storyline is heavily produced by the director. It gets to the point where the director is feeding them lines.
I'm not a fan of non-athletes being asked to compete in some of the hardcore dailies they've come up with over the years, so silly challenges could be a great equalizer that ensures certain tv-friendly personalities can stick around a while without strong competitive skills.
They need to bring back the chicken feed challenge. Then, I'll be happy :)
I can still remember that ice cream challenge from the Gauntlet I believe. I love the fun challenges like the intense games not hardcore challenges all the time.
Teen Mom makes me cringe watching those trainwrecks. Especially Jenelle. Someone should take away the poor kid. And her mom needs to slap her HARD. Tough love doesn't work on her though....can't believe she expected her mom to bail her out....

Or like Bottleneck Stampede on Cutthroat. Some of the old challenges were just stomach churning, I legit had to skip aheadLike the one they did in the chicken suit and had to put live insects in their mouths, or when they had to eat some food to get a key, or the one where they had to eat all the ice cream from the same bucket. Disgusting. I think those should be eliminate entirely or saved for the final only, at worst. They should keep the newbies though!

I thought the abandon ship challenge was great. A physical challenge but even some of the perceived weaker players (Devyn, Ashley, Sam, JD, Derek, etc) all excelled. Only two people weren't able to do it--Trishelle and Robb. Doubt anyone would have said that prior to it starting.
JD is a dolphin trainer, so no surprise that he kicked ***!
JD is a dolphin trainer, so no surprise that he kicked ***!
Good point--I shouldn't have included him. He's just generally thought of as weak so I threw him on there.

Certainly not enough to fill an entire roster. So as long as they're going to cast carebears and muppets along with the A-List, I'd prefer them to come up with ideas for challenges/eliminations where everyone can compete. Yeah, I guess that means people are going to have to eat ice cream until they puke, although I'd rather see them eat earthworms and bugs since theoretically anyone can do that if they have a strong mind. Sitting in a coffin full of spoiled milk and other gross things until someone gives up was a pretty solid event back in the day too. While we're at it, I'd love to see all future Challenge elimination rounds be the bottom 2 performers of the day. No scheming, no begging or pledging support, just get at the daily challenge and ******* perform!

I love the drama of seeing people trying to save their own butts. Also, the one thing I love about the Challenge is the great mix of drama and competition. Getting rid of one of those woild be horrible.

I love seeing people like Preston who probably can't even lift 10 lbs just get humiliated in a physical challenge.

There needs to be a balance of fun and super-competitive or else the show will go back to being the same thing every season. I like it when anyone has a shot to win because what's the point of watching a show like The Challenge when you know before the show even starts that 75% of the cast has absolutely no chance to win?

If it was only hardcore, 75% of these people wouldn't last a day. A good mix is ideal. I love physical challenges(and eliminations!) where they test strength, climbing abilities as well as swimming/jumping skills, and puzzles in eliminations. In addition having a fun trivia contest or eating contest is also awesome.
They need to bring back the chicken feed challenge. Then, I'll be happy :)
Agreed.

There's definitely a group of us who'd prefer to see intense sport and competition without all the other bull****. As long as you don't, I think all the events should be something that an "average joe" could have a 50% chance of winning. Yes, including eliminations which would kill stuff like Hall Brawl in my ideal Challenge if Preston is competing.
You can watch sports for that :P This is a game show. They don't even do a good job anymore pretending it is; all the lopsided dailies this time around prove it. This show is only still on the air because they're hoping people tune in to see what fights and hookups happen. Not my cup of tea, but I've already invested in these people by watching their seasons so as long as it's on the air, I'll take it. I do wish it was a true game show though, with little to no drama. I already got that on their RW season. It'd be like Celebrity Wheel of Fortune, only the people are less famous and you have a bit more invested in them. Speaking of which, as long as they continue these completely random dailies, I'd like to see some kind of Family Feud-themed event one of these days, just to see what kinds of off-the-wall answers some of these guys come up with.
Duck Dynasty???? What in the blue hell is Duck Dynasty and how did it go from a 1.0 to a 2.2 in one week!? People tune into the most random stuff, come on man, Duck Dynasty? Haha, almost makes me sick. Happy the challenge got a boost. In fact I believe Jersey Shore got a 1.3 so the challenges 0.8 might be the closes I have seen it get to Shore. Wonder how we managed to get those 1.1's and such last year. Actually, I just read that MTV has seen a ratings drop of about 30 percent from last year. They hired some new exec who was from the popular CW days. She may come in with some new great ideas but I hope she doesn't champion the end of the challenge.
Do you really like watching people play Sliders in elimination rounds?
Agreed. But I do wish that they had a challenge that favored puzzles, so that people that are smarter than they are strong could win. Personally I like the Exiles - they incorporate both puzzles and endurance, and it's less biased towards the 'popular' teams because there aren't people heckling the unpopular teams and helping the popular ones, as they did in something like Sliders.
Yes I do. When Paula/Katie were controlled by Adam and Frank, that was lame. I like seeing puzzle eliminations. Especially when a meathead gets thrown into one, flusters, and can't step up to the challenge. The one that Jonna/Jasmine did vs. Sarah/Kate was interesting to watch too. Although it was an easy puzzle >_< On the Duel 3, a mix of a puzzle elimination with some physical brawl and a climbing elimination for the choices would be sweet. You gotta be prepared for all 3, and be able to handle it like a boss :O
Do you really like watching people play Sliders in elimination rounds?
LMAO. So true.
