It went down, It Had a lot of Competition:

Wednesday was a better night for the Challenge, Thursday could have been better for catfish. It went up against the draft and nba and nhl playoffs..
Ridiculousness must be pulling in more ratings than Duck Dynasty and The Walking Dead combined!
This is the perfect example of what I was talking about. From 12:00am-10:00pm today there will have been 25 episodes of Ridiculousness aired which equates to TWELVE AND A HALF
They seriosuly run that show for half a day and they cant show a challenge repeat? Rob Dyrdek must have some serious dirt on MTV execs over there :surprise:
back under 1..
i guess it was expected, going up against the draft and nba and nhl playoffs..
and yeah i hope they move it back to wednesdays when and if there is another season,

There will be another challenge from what I have heard they are contracted for a season 26 and they are planning/drafting it right now.
Can we really blame Thursday nights anymore though. Ridiculousness comes on Thursday nights and they are killing it. Have been since the show started airing. They are averaging 1.1-1.5 million viewers and episode this past season. Not great but better than Free Agents and the show is in consist re-runs and they have another season coming and I see why, the show is successful and good. Jersey Shore came on Thursday nights and killed it as well.
I think switching to Thursday while Wednesday was going good for RW was stupid but I see the reasoning because Thursday nights have proven successful for past shows. Were week 5 in and they're still struggling....
Also, doesn't NBA come on every night right now anyways?
I got lost in the draft hype and another show so I forgot about it last night. Shame as that was the best episode of the season! It really pains me that such a great challenge season is being marred by these ratings. MTV needs to rev up the hype train, show repeats of this episodes and get some ads out. I still feel like this season can do better. Ex-Plosion and Rivals numbers may be out of reach but it can be better than this.

that's true, but i mean there is a lot going on right now. in the midst of playoff season and plus i just feel like this season wasn't as easy to hype up as pairing someone with their ex or their rival. i think its about time they did another gauntlet.
WE still don't know for sure there will be another one. Things can be cancelled. Its not like they are filming it right now. I would think with how Ex-Plosion did, we aren't dead in the water yet but there are no guarantees.

What would a Gauntlet do for ratings?
I feel like what a lot of us wants to see and what the general public wants to see are two different things. A lot of us here wanted to see real challenges, competition, and parity throughout the game. We pretty much got that in Free Agents and its doing poorly. The masses apparently prefer gimmicks, easy to grasp storylines (They hate each other and are teamed up!), and baseless overt drama.

sorry about that i didn't necessarily mean a gauntlet but some time of theme that would bring back some fan favorites and veterans to bring the ratings up. :distant:

Exactly!
TBH Free Agents IMO was made as a die hard fans challenge, not a attract new viewers as well challenge like past seasons.
The lack of drama... sloppy drama at that. No theme. No alliances. No nothing. Its a die hard fans type challenge because this what they have been wanting. However, its not working ratings wise.
They need to return to the old formula of Rivals II, Rivals, and Exes because it worked and attracted new viewers and the die hard ones still watched whether they liked it or not because it was challenge non the less.

Oh agreed. No matter what theme they do, as long as it is an attractable and gimmick theme it really doesn't matter who they cast at this point as long as a few popular people are on it, people will watch.
I think that ratings in at their best when CT runs the show. BMP is showing Zack so much it is getting me sick.
Lmaooo it doesn't had to do with CT or not.
Its the theme and change of night.

Yup.
They need a theme that will attract NEW viewers. As for the change of night idk. At this point were in week 5 heading in to week 6 and no change and were at the halfway point...
Wednesday would be better though. I think even Mondays would be fine. Not much comes on Mondays at 10pm I don't think.

Zach is there to stay over CT IMO. There's more longevity with Zach than CT.
I agree the next Challenge would be better as a reboot of the Gauntlet or Inferno (I am still partial to The Island 2 but since everyone hated the first I will reluctantly get off that soapbox). I cannot stomach another Rival or Exes, it is just cheap drama with competition taking a back seat. I really think ratings would improve if they brought back some Road Rules people (Kina, Jodi, Derek, Rachel, Adam, Holly, etc). That would please the diehard fans and give the new fans some interesting people to root for (other than paper thin people like Nany, Jonna, Zach, Brandon etc)

They don't need to reboot the Gauntlet or Inferno. They need themes and challenges with better names. I also think many fans are use to seeing partners and more specifically partner eliminations.
Its obvious individual/team is not cutting it ratings wise.
Pretty much all those RR people except maybe Rachel are done but it doesn't necessarily matter who they bring back at this point they just need a good theme and the cast will speak for itself IMO. BMP is pleasing for the most part the die hard fans this season and its killing the show. At the end of the day most die hard fans will watch whether they like the season or not at this point the show needs new viewers too watch as well for ratings to go up like past seasons.
The new kids are the future of the show and people need to start realizing that or the show is never gonna go anywhere. As a fan I believe you are suppose to grow with the show. It can't stay the same forever!

*clap* *clap*
We tend to disagree a lot, but I agree with every single word you wrote.
So, should they just do cheap gimmick seasons forever? They can't keep alternating between Rivals and Exes. At some point they're going to have to change it up. This season did poorly in the changing up of things, but we can do another Exes, then what? They're going to have to think of something else to keep the Challenge afloat.

New challenge ideas are fine but they need to have a theme that will attract viewers verses something along the lines of Free Agents that is not attracting new viewers.
Next season they shouldn't take the risk of doing a new theme even though thats what Susanne Daniels supposedly wants because they need to regain viewers with what works....
Just my opinion though.

if the core fans who have been watching since day 1 would keep tuning in to these shows then we would not need the new kids who watch mtv. 18-24 group these days have adhd way too much to rely on for the success of a show!
maybe I am just getting too **** old for these shows because the Cancun cast killed both RW and The Challenge for me
I love the Cancun cast! They're actually some of my favorite people from the franchise.

why?? their behavior is classless and downright ****** at times and they are all very weak competitors except for maybe CJ and he is middle tier at best.

Agree to disagree. Their season was one of my favorites and I love most of their personalities.
