I'm surprised you didn't remember Sarah's phone call from her dad? There were very memorable moments on that season. One of the best was when Katelynn and JD had that conversation in the car and that dinner in the first episode when they were opening up to each other and it was a powerful moment, IMO. (Of course, this is the last that we saw from "Good JD")
Yeah that brought the tears.
I'm surprised you didn't remember JD stabbing Katelynn in the back by telling the boys that she really was transgendered, EVEN IF they already knew, it is still very wrong. One of the best was when Katelynn and JD had that conversation in the car and that dinner in the first episode when they were opening up to each other and it was a powerful moment, IMO. (Of course, this is the last that we saw from "Good JD") But nonetheless, Brooklyn did better than Cancun. Its proof that real life issues CAN deliver. But Cancun is good so far, I hope for a big pick-up in the ratings.
Its not like the boys did not know. It was kind of obvius. Now that you mention it I do remember Sarahs phone call from her father. I do not remeber any moving moving conversation in a car. I do remember Katelynn telling JD she was transgendered but I dont remember that being moving. I do think real issues can bring ratings. I would love a season about real issues. Brooklyn was not a season with real issues. It did have as many real issues as any other season. The season was mostly BFFometers and Boy vs. Girl pranks.

Having to deal with your father who abused you, living with a transgendered person (which the RW has never had), and getting called back to war, is REAL. Maybe the way they were edited wasn't good but it was REAL nonetheless.
Who said Denver didn't have real issues? I didn't like Denver because it was trashy, not because of the issues.
And I don't like Brooklyn because it was boring. Can we please stop arguing over this topic. It never seems to get anyone anywhere.
I'm done. Oh and Brooklyn was not boring. I hope they put up that chart soon.
I'm not arguing about anything.
Arguing was a bad choice of words. Sorry. i just feel like this discussion can get very repetitive.

Ok, after reading the last few pages, we need to get BACK ON TOPIC PEOPLE. This thread is for discussion of Real World Cancun ratings, not how this season compares to Brooklyn, or which season was more "real". I trust you all can find the appropriate spot for those comments. Anymore off-topic posts will result in warnings and/or infractions. Thanks.
Good news everybody! Real World XXII made #3 in the Top 10. Anyone care to provide us with a screenshot? Everytime I try to do so it never accepts it. But yeah just take a look of it here.

Yay! I knew Cancun could do it!
Looks like they did worse than last week.
I think they did better. That number is only for the 18-34 demo so that is not the full number. That number alone reaches very close to the full number of last week. I'm sure that Cancun got a good amount of viewers in the 12-18 demo and no doubt that they at least got viewers in the 18-49 and the 25-54 demo. So I'm 100% sure that Cancun had an increase in viewers from Episode 1 to Episode 2.

Better than last week, but still not very good.
I would say at most a .8 increase including all of the other demos, which would put them at 1.9. This is another big win competition wise.
A half a million increase in one week is pretty significant when a show is getting the viewership that The Real World does. Hopefully it did get 1.9 million viewers and hopefully tonights episode breaks 2 million. Brooklyn was initially considered a success with viewers and the premier episode of that only recieved around 2.3 million viewers.
It may not be good, but it is better than 1.4.
I'd guess it is very close to that number. We'd have to break out the stats to see what percentage of viewers that watch these shows in the past year were outside the 18-34 demo (even numbers for the last few weeks of The Duel would be a start.) Thus, my cursory analysis would state that the show lost viewers week to week (i.e. it is declining.) However, if some wants to bust out the data, I am all ears.
I'd guess it is very close to that number.
Was the 1.4 rating from the premiere total viewers, or just one demographic?
Was the 1.4 rating from the premiere total viewers, or just one demographic?
Total viewers, IIRC.
I thought it did 1.6 total in the premiere (but just looked it up and see it was 1.4.) So it might be right on par with last week.
I found a handful of other dates where we had both numbers (18-34 and total viewers for The Real World Brooklyn) and did the math. It seems to stay in the low 30's (percent) on average outside the 18-34 demo (although the finale was well out of that range so I thew it out is somewhat of an anomaly.) So a 1.4+ number is most likely dead on if viewing habits have remained the same. However, there is a chance that this new season might not appeal as much to those with other demographic profiles which is something to consider. I don't think that the opposite would be true. Either way, we don't have the numbers at this point to come to a conclusion. No matter how you look at it, this season is not keeping pace with Brooklyn (whose season lows as far as we know were around 1.1 million, 18-34) or Hollywood (which was also during the summer) from a ratings perspective.

Ok...after going over even more numbers (better ones this time) I am going to adjust my random wild guess to 1.6 million total viewers this week. Because MTV throws in 12-18 into what normally is 18-34 (ala 12-34) it screwed my calculations because I was not paying attention... Anyway, these are not great numbers (series lows) but also no reason to panic for Real World fans (unless they start going down even further.)

The Real World used to air on Tuesdays at 10pm for years and years...and years. They moved it to Wednesday a few years back and ratings have been down. They should move it back to Tuesdays so it doesn't air against South Park and other shows on Wednesdays.
Paris Hiltons New BFF2 didn't even reach 1million. So Canacun is beating them.

"If Real World: Cancun is the same thing as Real World XXII, the most viewed airing, July 1, @ 10pm, averaged 1.95 million viewers." -TVBytheNumbers.com
Wow! I knew it. That is a 39% increase, if my math is correct.
Wow! Thats a great increase. Lets hope it keeps going up. Last week was a great episode, hopefully it has made new fans and tonights episode breaks 2 million.
My friend always thought Real World was lame, then he watched the first 2 episodes of Cancun (which were the only episodes that he has seen of Real World) and I got him hooked on the show. I guess hes one of those new fans!
