Remember that Alton's getting up there in age and Zach's like 24 and HUGE
Also remember that not all eliminations/challenges are physical. Sometimes you can get away with using "The Stare" on your competition and come out ahead.

Yeah but this is Zach we're talking about...
Yeah but this is Zach we're talking about...
You never really know with these challenges... would you have been able to predict the fly swatter elimination between Eric and Luke? Most would think "Oh, any physical elimination Eric would've won based on size alone." It was a physical mission though, but not directly against each other ultimately. There're too many factors involved.
Alton's a good climber...that's it. Just because the guy has toned muscles & visible abs doesn't mean he's physically strong. The guy is a twig & has no legs and there are a lot of the guys that do challenges these days that would ragdoll him in anything 1-on-1 that was physical...plus he has a padded record of beating scrubs in elimination rounds and shining on challenges that weren't really all that physically demanding. He's been out of the game for 5 years too, a lot has changed.
Im really interesting in this Alton/Zach war. Any information about that molds?
Someone said Zach was saying nice things about Alton, but he is just being super sarcastic and trying to be funny. He tweeted a lot of Alton, mostly: Alton is an animal bla bla bla. He tweeted once about Dustin to making fun of him. And Frank and even TRISHELLE were laughing at it.

Well I don't know what kind of shape he is in, but you're awfully disrespectful to one of the best challengers in challenge history. Just because guys aren't HUGE or 230 pounds of muscle doesn't mean they're not great at the game. Alton has proven to be one of the quickest, smartest, most agile, best teammates, great endurance athletes in this game. He would destroy most of these extremely muscular guys, including Zach and your buddy CT, in anything that wasn't 'my strength vs your strength' which is like 75% of this game. So who's the better challenger? Everyone gets so caught up in the physical games which equates to just a few of the eliminations and rarely any of the actual challenges.

I don't know from what 3rd world you are but have you ever been watching Challenges? Not like Real World but Challenges?

He looked pretty lackluster to me on what was a not very physically demanding Inferno 3 some 5 years ago. Challenges, especially elimination rounds and finals, are much more intense and physically demanding now than they were in Alton's heyday. Not only that, but back then, the challenge experience was seen more as a vacation than competitive endeavor by most castmembers...it was just something they "did" while they were in an exotic location. The atmosphere is totally the opposite now, it's a newer, stronger breed playing the game these days.
Why do you think Alton waited around so long to appear on a challenge? It's not a coincidence that he just decided to do this challenge with a lineup of weak and unproven players. He's been contacted many times in the past five years about doing shows with much stronger and competitive casts but wanted no part of doing them.
I think Alton is a bit overrated as well. On the Inferno 3, he was very underwhelming with Ace and Johnny outperforming him. He also comes from a completely different era where people didn't train all of the time for the Challenge, so just being in good physical shape was good enough to be a force on the challenge. To assume that Nany is the reason why Alton went home though is just dumb because Alton hasn't been on a Challenge in 5 years and isn't that great as a competitor.
Completely disagree. That's why Derrick and Johnny have repeatedly said on podcasts that Alton is one of the best to ever be on the challenges and he always make it to the end of their brackets even though he hasn't been on a challenge in 5 years
We will see why he goes home. It's pretty telling that we know that Las Vegas was targeted from the beginning and they almost made it to the end despite that.
Alton wasn't as huge muscular wise and wasn't as big and strong as a CT or Zach BUT he was VERY athletic, in shape, quick, agile, flexible, fast, smart, a great climber, ect. ect.. In a Pole Wrestle type game or Push Me type game he would be beaten and probably easily but in an Ascender type game or Capture the Flag or in anything that has to do with running, speed, ect. he would make those big and strong guys look like fools. I remember the games he beat Adam and Tyrie in on the Gauntlet 2 and Inferno 3..he reminded me of a machine because he played those games to perfection and I couldn't see anyone in Challenge history beating him at those games. Of course, all of these things is what he WAS...who knows if he's still like that or if he's as good as he used to be.
Sure these challenges are more intense now but to say Alton denied doing the last few challenges because he punked out and waited until a "weaker" cast was picked is a bit of a reach. I dont like how you guys downplay some past challengers as if they were chumps and as if they can't hang with the intensity of these new challenges if they were still young. Well then I guess Landon is lackluster too If Alton is. Also I'm sure Zach will do well but I don't think we should be including him with the likes of some of the top dogs until we see him with them.

Agreed. That guy thinks now he is Mister Olympic or whatever he is just because he made it far in the game. That moron didn't even compete with big dogs and he is talking trash to everybody on Twitter.

Come on now, you gotta give him some credit. He friggin' beat Preston and Knight for crying out loud! That's crazy! His cutie mark is an anvil! Dude's a beast! Just wait 'til he get on a challenge with Landon, Johnny, and Derrick, he'll leave them in the dust!

Where did you find this?
To be fair, none of us have seen most of these people compete either. Sure, a lot of them don't look as athletically inclined as the likes of JEK, etc., but it really has more to do with the events during the challenge. People can surprise.
I mean, on the first BOTSeasons, would anybody have expected Kelley to smoke everybody (guys and girls) in that rope climbing challenge? And on a different end, there have been several men who look like they should do great at challenges that never lived up (Danny, Laterrian).
And I certainly wasn't expecting to see Brooklyn anywhere near the final challenge when the cast list was announced. So, it really is anybody's game.

Right, and that's what BMP/MTV wanted. So they put a bunch of people on a challenge who are all, somewhat, on the same level. But I don't think it's crazy to think if certain people were on this challenge as well they would easily complete the quest. It's been proven time and time again. The strongest ponies rise to the top.

Um, the spoiler thread. I'm not saying he beat them in eliminations but technically he did because he made to the end and they didn't.

You're probably right. I think that's a good thing though. I'm happy that there's a little bit of unpredictability with this cast, because the challenges have become so predictable as of late.
Every season, is very much the same play, with the very same script, only with different actors, who sometimes play their role better then others previously casted in it..
There is nothing revolutionary about what enfolds in front of us right now...
MTV knew exactly what they set up this time around... They weren´t even looking at this season, but way beyond that, where two "real" forces, so to say, can/will clash ...
I hope it will be worth it in the end, because sadly I foresee drastically stagnating/or falling ratings this time around ...

No, I really think beating Preston and Knight is more credible than beating 4 time champ Johnny and 3 time champs Landon and Derrick lol

I may be the minority here but Derrick, Adam K., Nehemiah and later on Kenny all surprised/impressed me at how decent or great they ended up being after returning to challenges. So I couldn't agree more.
I'm excited to see how Preston does as well as Knight. I'm expecting Derek to surprise us maybe and I'm also excited to see CJ who I don't even remember from FM2.
New commercial says "7 seasons" and doesn't show Syndey when going through the seasons in text form so that may hint one way or another as to how they're gonna handle that.

I'm legit going to hate watching these two on this challenge.

Oh but they are so cool, not. Team Vegas all the way unfortunately it seems as though Zach has a huge head after this challenge which is really annoying.
